Mortal Friendship

by Noir

For the once upon a time I shall begin
Remembering the hole that resides within
I had the patron saint of friends
Energy of white light, filling the new trench in my spirit within
Never did we fight nor did we use an iota of hate
Drunken with love, it was perfect until

Osculation season began, proud peacocks that we were
Forgetting our friendship for a minute, we wooed the same girl

Lovely and divinely beautiful was she, to the stars envy
Opening the doors to my heart, to make her mine was my sole mission
Violated I felt, when my friend tarnished my name
Eumenides, Goddesses of revenge I tried to beseech forth

A thread of our friendship was severed from then on
Never to encounter him ever again without a word or gesture of parting
Despair filled my heart now, where innocence and laughter once dwell

Hands clasped raised into the ether, I prayed to the Gods to bless him
Anonymous was the last words I spoke, I mailed my prayer like a letter
To any temple, mosque, synagogue or church
Eternity would I not stay angry at a patron saint
