My Dear Sibling

by Adelaine

It was everyday,
I do recall,
That a dark cloud would pass our way.
Day or night the cloud would appear,
And then vanish and cause the suns rays to shimmer.
Though there were times that the cloud would never come,
There would always be this dark tunnel.
A tunnel we would seldom pass,
A tunnel that would never last,
'Cause after every dark tunnel there is light.

There are days though that all we see are rainbows.
Rainbows that remind us of a promise,
A promise we will always keep.
Promises though are meant to be broken,
And that is when the rain begins to shatter.
Our very presence begins to fade.
But none of these things will forever last,
As long as we remember,
What we are to each other.
