by Master of shadow
Dear Father
For as long as I can remember,
You have always been there,
Not as a father figure,
A man who would always care,
But as a fearful overload
Causing pain to those around,
And we could never told a sole
Could never make a sound.
You caused so many problems,
Hurt us in so many ways.
Yet no one ever noticed
They all ignored our pleas
I used to think it normal,
To be beaten every day,
I used to think I was strange
To want you to be kept at bay
Thought that it happened to everyone,
That all fathers acted like you,
Beat their family for all mistakes,
Bruise them black and blue,
We were forever trapped here,
Within this eternal hell.
No one could save us
No on heard us yell.
All those cries for help,
Fell upon deaf ears.
So here we remained
With you for all those years
And even now that you've left us,
Now you far away,
The fear still remains
At the end of every day
The fear your voice would create,
The sound that would cause an icy chill,
Called us over to you
So you could get your thrill
You would enjoy to hit and beat us,
Your eyes lit up as you caused the pain,
Wouldn't stop until you'd had your fill
Of whatever it was you had to gain.
To lash out at your children,
To hit and beat your wife.
Does it not make you wonder
Just what you did wrong in life?
You may no longer live here,
But that has not destroyed the fear,
You are still here in memory,
And in many a persons tear,
You are forever in the shadows,
Though you we will never find,
For although I know you are far away,
You're forever in my mind.
I’m writing to say goodbye to you,
And tell you all these things,
The memories that you created
Mean that my soul still stings.
I am still living in fear of you
And all that you have become.
All you pain and suffering
The thoughts of which make me numb.
But now you have left us
But an answer I still need to know,
Why did you do this to us?
What did you gain by making us feel so low?
I will never forget what you did,
All those years of woe,
That made a man who should have been my father,
Become my all time foe.
yours sincerely,
your son
