Too Late Daddy Dearest

by Skyfox

Could it really be?
I had no real Dad to comfort me
Somewhere in my long forgotten past
You were here but you chose a different path

You chose willingly to leave me behind
You chose never to have me in your mind
You chose to tear my heart to shreds
You left me stranded to face all life’s dreads

Tell me now my Daddy dearest
Was it worth it now that death is nearest?
You chose to forget your darling daughter
You chose to leave me drowning in the water

Oh now you remember where I live
Now you ask me to forgive
Too much time has wasted away
You now have lots and lots to say

So sorry Dad it was your choice
You chose long ago not to hear my voice
You broke my heart I loved you so
It is me now who does not want to know

Don’t say to me after all this time
That a dying Dad deserves forgiveness for his crime
You tore my out my heart and want to do it again
What real Dad would do that I don’t understand?
