Superhuman

by Rya

You tell me you're sad
Yet I know it can't be true
You sad? It doesn't work.
Somehow, I've always thought
You were immune.
Immune to all the pain and suffering of this world.
You've always been this superhuman thing,
Something to admire, to hope to someday be.
You've always been superhuman
to me.

You tell me you're sick
Yet I know it's a lie
Superhuman can't get sick
I've always thought of you as
Something more.
Something better. You're superhuman.
You're immune to all the hurt and hardship of this world.
You'll always be this superhuman thing,
Something to admire, to hope to someday be.
You'll always be superhuman
to me.

I can see now you're upset
And I can't believe it's true.
Superhuman, are you alright?
Someone must have gotten the best of you.
You've always seemed immune
Immune too all the distractions and fear of this world.
Yet now your immunity is failing you
And I can only look on with pain in my human eyes.
Because it seems there's nothing I can do
To save superhuman you.
You'll always be this superhuman thing,
something to admire, to hope to someday be.
And no matter what happens you'll always be
Superhuman
to me.
