The betraying friend

When life gets difficult,
Hard for us to handle
Do we abandon the ones we love?

I told you to back away,
Was that the right thing to do?
I'm not sure what to do now.

We're so close,
And I just told you to back away,
Without an explanation at all.

I've asked for forgiveness,
I don't think I deserve such thing,
I'm not sure how good of a friend I am.

You have said I've been great
Great friend to you,
I just don't see how.

It feels as though I have betrayed you,
And it feels so wrong,
Can you forgive me? Can we be friends again?

I wasn't thinking when I said it,
When I told you to back away,
I need you back as a good friend again.

You are such a good friend to me,
And I just tell you to go away,
I am deeply sorry for betraying you.
